House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas

4 out of 5 Stars

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I am going to attempt to write a review for this monster of a book. So much happens here that it’d be hard to write a review without spoiling so this will probably be short and sweet.

I want to start off by saying Sarah J Maas can write a fantasy world like it’s her job.. I mean I know it’s her job but she is absolutely perfect at it. This world is so in depth and I felt like I was in Crescent City. She is also insanely good at writing characters. I could feel every emotion Bryce went through. I honestly could. The storytelling is all so good that I feel like I am apart of it.

Now that being said.. I was bored for the first 3rd of this book. It took me weeks to read because I kept putting it down. After the first bit though, I literally could not stop reading. So if you are having the same problem you should push through it. I promise you will not regret it.

Druid Vices and a Vodka by Annette Marie

5 out of 5 Stars

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This is the 6th book in the series, so if you have made it this far then you don’t need me talking you into reading this book or the next.  But just in case you do.. READ IT! If you haven’t started this series..DO IT!

I can not say enough good things about this series or really any of Annette Marie’s books.  I think she is completely underrated as an author and more people should be talking about her books.  Her skills with storytelling are unreal and she has written some of my favorite characters to date.

In this book Tori has alot going on right from the beginning.  And.. well dang I can’t even talk about it with out giving away spoilers.  That’s the problem with writing a review for the 6th book in a series.  But this book is filled with so many ups and downs.  We get to see the Ghost again and I freaking love the Ghost.

Many, many secrets were revealed.  Lives were lost and some saved. So many emotions ranging from happiness to heartbreak.  Loyalties were tested and betrayals I didn’t see coming happened.

This book was intense and I wouldn’t change a single word.  July 10th can not come fast enough!

The Blacksmith Queen by G.A. Aiken

5 out of 5 Stars

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I am so excited that I was able to get my hands on this book early. Everything G.A. Aiken/Shelly Laurenston writes is pure gold. I have read the Dragon Kin series so many times and each time I love the re-read more than the last.. and this book is no exception.

The Blaksmith Queen has everything you could possible want in a fantasy book. There are centaurs, dwarfs, wood elf, barbarians, a chained lava dragon, war monks, a drunk warrior cousin, a pretend fated queen, a mad cow with no soul hell bent on taking over the world? Yeah this book has all that and more. Oh let’s not forget that this book will literally have you laughing out loud. I read this book during my lunch break at work and I would just laugh and laugh and everyone else would stare but I don’t care! It is honestly just that funny. And you don’t see the humor coming. It’s one of the things I love most about it.

If you haven’t read the Dragon Kin series.. one you are nuts, two: you have a month before this book comes out. I highly recommend that you read that series before this one. It is absolutely 100% not necessary but they do mention the Dark Plains a few times but I just think that series will give you a little bit of a start when you read this one. Plus we now have to wait for the second book in this series, you can re-read the Dragon Kin series and trust me you will want to.

I can not recommend this book enough. The characters are all fantastic. The storyline is fantastic. The world is fantastic. Yeah… everything is fantastic. The only problem is now I have to wait for the next one!

I received a copy of this book from Kensington Books/Netgalley

Pestilence by Laura Thalassa

5 out of 5 Stars

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“That’s beside the point, brain. Don’t be an idiot on me now.”

“After I put Pestilence’s crown on my head (motherfucking queen right here) “

I read this whole effing book in one sitting.. in ONE sitting. I understand that people do that all the time and whatever I have too but never with a book that is almost 400 pages and I also had to bribe my husband into watching our daughter while I sat in bed and read for hours. I didn’t make dinner and I didn’t go to target (kind of a big freaking deal). My eyes hurt so bad but it was all so worth it.

I will admit that I was doubting the author’s sanity for the first 30ish% of the book. You know with all the suffering and killing. I was doubting she could make me love Pestilence. But she did and I fell HARD. He was delightful. Yup I said delightful. He was adorable in his awkward ‘courting’ and you know sexy stuff. It was al just fantastic. Sara was pretty cool too. Her inner dialogue was hilarious.

She would be suffering and then all of a sudden she would think something and I would be laughing.. and then I would feel bad for laughing. But Sara took everything Pestilence dished out and gave just a good back to him.

I can not freaking wait for WAR!!! AHH.

So I Married a Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks

4 out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5.

So it was good.. I don’t know though.. it just wasn’t great. It felt extremely long to me. I honestly think I would have liked it a whole lot more if I would have listened to the audiobook. The story was almost too happy and perfect. That makes no sense. Brigitta is this sweet, caring, beautiful girl whose family happened to be a bunch of dicks. Of course she had no clue what they did because she was sent away. But a bunch of crap happens and she finds out that she’s a princess and then she is kidnapped by the scariest pirate in the seas… who just happens to also be kind of a sweetheart oh and he’s seeking revenge for what Brigitta’s family did to his. Yes, it gets confusing. I honestly don’t really know what he originally planned to do with her.. he wanted to take her to her asshole brother for ransom? But I don’t really understand why. But whatever. They obviously fall in love because they are both just so dang sweet and then there’s a competition for Brigitta when she gets back home.

Honestly I am too lazy to give a real review right now.. and this all makes sense in my head but it’s just not coming together on paper. So yeah I’m done. It was a good book! Just way too freaking long!
